At the London Marathon, we finally got to see the Nike Alphafly 3 in action when Sifan Hassan and Geoffrey Kamworor wore the shoes. The Nike Alphafly is probably the running shoe with the most interest around the world. Since Nike launched their running shoes with a carbon fiber plate in connection with the Sub2 project in 2017, they have been very popular among runners.
The Nike Vaporfly Next 4% came in several different versions before the Alphafly made its debut in July 2020. What distinguishes the models is mainly a thicker XoomX sole on the latter model, as well as an Air Zoom unit on the forefoot.

Nike Alphafly 3 release date: January 4, 2024
Now Nike has now announced the release date for the Alphafly Next% 3 and it will hit the market on January 4, 2024.
In the 2023 Berlin Marathon, we saw Eliud Kipchoge wearing the new Nike Alphafly 3 on his feet as he won the race. We also saw Henrik Ingebritsen compete in the Alphafly 3 running shoes in the Copenhagen Half Marathon on September 17, 2023.
The best way to ensure that you get the Nike Alphafly 3 when it is released is to go to the Nike website and click the “Notify me” button. You will then receive an email notifying you when the product is for sale.

New Marathon World Record in New Nike Alphafly 3 Super Shoes
At the 2023 Chicago Marathon, Kelvin Kiptum set a new marathon world record of 2:00.35. At the same time, Sifan Hassan also achieved a top time as she recorded the second fastest women’s marathon time ever with 2:13:44. Both runners wore the new Nike Alphafly Next% 3 on their feet.
What price will the new Nike Alphafly Next% 3 have? The previous models of Nike Alphafly have had a price tag of just over $300, but the newest model will be higher. There have been many updates to the model and we have seen the prices of the most high-profile running shoes in the field steadily rise.
What is new on the Nike Alphafly 3?
The XoomX foam now seems to be continuous along the entire sole, instead of the clear division between the forefoot and heel that we saw in previous models. The sole itself also looks slightly thicker than in the Alphafly 2. The Zoom Air unit is now also integrated into the sole unit instead of separate as before.
Overall, the Nike Alphafly 3 appears to be more cushioned and responsive than the Alphafly 2. If you’ve had both predecessors of the shoe model, you know that there were extensive improvements in cushioning from the first to the second model of the Alphafly. It remains to be seen if the third version will further contribute to improving the running experience.
If the model that Kamworor and Hassan ran the London Marathon with is the model being released to the public, there also appears to be smooth patches on the outsole that is intended to reduce friction.
Another improvement made to the Nike Vaporfly 2 was in its durability. Both the outsole and the upper will last for more running kilometers than was the case with the first version. One of the few downsides heard about the shoe is that it is slightly narrow in the midsection.
